The rumors are true: Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII will have a Battle Royale mode. The mode will include land, sea and air vehicles on a huge map and will span multiple games and heroes, from across Black Ops and Zombies. The mode is called ‘Blackout’ and it replaces the single-player campaign as one of the “three pillars” of Black Ops. Treyarch didn’t reveal many details about the game—I’m not sure how many players will fight to be the last man standing—but I do like the idea of vehicles being a big part of the Battle Royale mode, and I’m excited to play a game in this genre with Call of Duty mechanics, though so much has changed this year I’m not sure what to think. The map will be 1500 times bigger than Nuketown, so that’s…well that’s pretty massive actually. Surprisingly massive.
